Louis.Job Summary

The Substitute Teacher provides instructional support and classroom supervision in the absence of the regular teacher. This position is responsible for maintaining a productive learning environment, implementing lesson plans, and fostering the academic, social, and spiritual growth of students in accordance with the mission and values of Holy Spirit Catholic School. Essential

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Follow lesson plans and instructional materials provided by the regular classroom teacher.
  • Provide effective classroom instruction and facilitate learning activities.
  • Maintain a safe, respectful, and orderly classroom environment.
  • Supervise students during classroom activities, transitions, lunch, recess, and other assigned duties.
  • Manage student behavior in accordance with school policies and procedures.
  • Take attendance and maintain records as required.
  • Communicate relevant information regarding student progress, behavior, and completed assignments to the regular teacher.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all students at all times.
  • Uphold confidentiality regarding student and school information.
  • Support and model Catholic values, teachings, and Christian behavior.
  • Follow all school emergency, safety, and security procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal or school administration.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required; Associate's degree or Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Prior experience working with children or in an educational setting preferred.
  • Strong communication and classroom management skills.
  • Ability to follow instructions and adapt to different grade levels and subject areas.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism and exercise sound judgment.
  • Commitment to supporting the mission of Catholic education.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Ability to engage and supervise students effectively. Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills. Ability to establish positive relationships with students, parents, faculty, and staff. Dependable, flexible, and punctual. Ability to work independently and respond appropriately to varying classroom situations.
