The paraprofessional will support students in the classroom by reinforcing learning activities, implementing curriculum, and assisting with instructional materials. They will also help maintain classroom discipline, conduct assessments, and communicate effectively with parents and staff.

JOB GOAL: Support young students in class with learning English and making appropriate grade level growth.

Duties and Responsibilities

Assist with set up of classroom and prepare materials for specialized instructional units Assist teacher in maintaining discipline and other functions Plan, develop and implement class curriculum approved by the teacher Provide instructional support services under the supervision of the teacher Provide corrective feedback to students and re-teach as necessary Serve as mentor to the students Communicate, collaborate and cooperate with colleagues, supervisors and students Support individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning activities Assist instructional personnel with the development and presentation of learning materials Assist in administering pre- and post-testing Conduct parental involvement activities May be asked to support students in unified arts classes (Art, Music, World Cultures, PE and Library) Complete written reports and assigned tasks related to the functions Participate in meetings as requested Assist with assessments, data collection, behavior plans and transitions. May be asked to attend curriculum meetings and classroom team meetings. Follow the schedule provided by the supervising teacher Cover classes when needed. Complete additional tasks assigned. EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS: Associate's degree or Para Pro Test Experience in public education in an urban setting, preferred Ability to work effectively with students and staff Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing, in both English and Spanish Ability to communicate effectively with parents Knowledge of current educational practices The Lowell Community Charter Public School is committed to creating an environment of inclusion cross-geography and across traditional lines of differences, without regard to race, color, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, disability, or age.

Requirements

Candidates must possess an Associate's degree or have passed the Para Pro Test. Proficiency in both English and Spanish is required, along with the ability to work effectively with students in an urban educational setting.
