Description Join Us in Supporting Student Success Are you passionate about working with children and helping them succeed both inside and outside the classroom? Join our team as a Teacher Assistant and help create a safe, engaging, and supportive environment where students can learn, grow, and thrive. Working alongside Site Coordinators, Lead Teachers, Program Facilitators, and community partners, you'll play an important role in supporting daily program operations while encouraging positive youth development, academic success, and meaningful connections with students and families.

Job Description

The Teacher Assistant provides direct support for student supervision and daily program operations within NFCOZ and MCOZ Out-of-School Time programs. This position works collaboratively with program leadership and instructional staff to deliver high-quality programming while promoting the mission, values, and goals of East Bay Community Action Program (EBCAP).

Hours are 2

  • 00-3:30 or 4:30 at
  • Gaudet
  • Elementary or 2:45-4:15 at Forest Avenue and Aquidneck Schools on Mondays and Wednesdays.

Key Responsibilities Student Supervision & Support Welcome students and help create a positive start to each program session.

Assist with attendance tracking, snack distribution, and student dismissal procedures.

Provide active supervision to ensure student safety and well-being throughout program activities.

Support positive behavior management practices that align with school expectations and program guidelines.

Program Assistance Work closely with Lead Teachers and program staff to support daily program goals and activities.

Assist with preparing materials, organizing spaces, and facilitating student engagement.

Help ensure activities run smoothly and provide support where needed.

Adapt to changing program needs and contribute to a positive learning environment.

Family & Community Engagement Foster positive relationships with parents, caregivers, and families.

Serve as a welcoming and professional representative of the program.

Support an inclusive environment that values diverse backgrounds and experiences.

Professional Growth & Program Quality Participate in a minimum of 20 hours of professional development annually.

Assist with internal and external program evaluation activities.

Follow all agency, school, and state policies, regulations, and procedures.

Perform additional duties as assigned by program leadership.

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED required.

Preferred Qualifications

Associate's Degree and/or Teacher Assistant Certification preferred. Experience working with school-age children in educational, childcare, recreation, youth development, or after-school settings is highly desirable. Ability To: Maintain confidentiality and uphold professional and ethical standards. Work effectively with diverse populations and communities. Develop positive, supportive relationships with students, families, and staff. Remain flexible and responsive to changing program needs.

Requirements

A High School Diploma or GED is required for this position. Experience working with school-age children in educational or youth development settings is highly desirable.
