Job Description

The Small Group Instructor (SGI) will work in partnership with classroom Teachers to help facilitate learning in the classroom. The SGI works collaboratively with peers, teachers, and students with a deep commitment to our college-going mission. SGIs hold students and themselves to high expectations and uphold the Academy’s culture of excellence. Major

Duties and Responsibilities

Shared Vision: Supports a vision of excellence for all students, with an urgency to maximize every opportunity necessary to achieve ambitious student outcomes Teaching and Learning: With guidance from and in collaboration with the teacher, teach small groups during learning rotations. With guidance from and in collaboration with the teacher, lead small group intervention for targeted students. Meet with the teacher regularly to discuss student progress and plan next steps for instruction and intervention Coverage Support: Leads the classroom in the absence of the lead teacher Student Supervision: Supports campus supervision before and after school dismissal, assists​ ​in​ ​any​ ​lunch​ ​administration​ ​activities (​escorting students​ ​to​ ​lunch​ ​and​ ​​play​ ​area) Community Outreach: Demonstrates commitment to the community by communicating regularly with families and attending key community events Professional Expectations: Fully participates in all assigned staff meetings, professional development, and planning sessions. Prepare lessons and student exemplars as assigned. Fully participates in the coaching cycle (being observed, receiving real-time and post-lesson feedback, collaborating with coach on action steps, implementing action steps, etc.) Support the general day-to-day activities of the school site Assessment Lead Duties: Organize confidential testing materials Support testing logistics with guidance from the site Testing Coordinator Monitor testing progress Report progress to the site Testing Coordinator Assist IAs as needed with testing Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal, Assistant Principals, and coaches

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required Substitute permit preferred Experience working with school-aged children preferred Desire to pursue a teaching credential preferred Bilingual Spanish speaker preferred Skills and Traits: Commitment to our organization’s mission and educational philosophy Organized and self-managed, able to handle many responsibilities simultaneously Excellent problem-solver Strong interpersonal and communication skills, oral and written Proven ability to collaborate and build relationships with internal and external stakeholders Dependable and excellent at follow-through Flexible to a changing work environment; always presents with a positive attitude Self-reflective individual who is committed to ongoing learning and growth Computer knowledge and skills; familiar with Microsoft Office suite Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 7:45 am - 4:15 pm. Pay Range: $25.00 - $32.62. Final compensation will depend on skills & experience.

Requirements
