About the role

Coaches will lead athletic teams by managing tryouts, creating practice and game schedules, and fostering student development. They are expected to collaborate with the athletics department to ensure a positive and mission-aligned experience for student-athletes.

The Rivers School — a 6-12 co-ed independent day school in Weston, MA, just outside Boston — seeks professionals who are looking to join a dynamic, innovative, and welcoming school community.

The Rivers School is looking for coaches that are excited about helping our students extend the mission of our school, "Excellence with Humanity", to the athletic setting.

We have a wide range of opportunities for coaches to bring their knowledge, enthusiasm, and team building strategies to all realms of play.

Depending on position, coaches will be asked to help with tryouts and selection of teams, making all practice and game schedules, and participate in meetings with the athletics department on ways to help create the best experience for our student-athletes.

Qualities that we look for in coaches, include but are not limited to the following: Healthy communication skills Experience working with students in an athletic setting from grades 6-12 Strong organizational and motivational platforms Enthusiastic approach to development and growth Rivers encourages interest from candidates who will enrich the diversity of identity, experience, and perspectives among our professional and school community.

We recognize that skilled and innovative individuals follow a variety of pathways in life, and we enthusiastically invite applications from those who may have experience that meets our qualifications in non-traditional ways.

Rivers offers BIPOC affinity, LGBTQ+ affinity, and white allyship spaces for professionals, as well as institutional professional development, to support and enrich our work around equity and access.

In addition to mentorship from peers and direct supervisors, all professional community members benefit from a year-long onboarding program.

Salary Range: $2,000-$5,000 stipend

Requirements

Candidates should possess strong communication, organizational, and motivational skills with experience working with students in grades 6-12. An enthusiastic approach to athletic growth and a commitment to the school's mission of 'Excellence with Humanity' are required.
