Job Description

The Special Education Assistant Coordinator supports the Special Education Coordinator in ensuring that the school’s Special Education Program achieves its goals and complies with relevant guidelines and applicable state and federal laws. Certificates and Licenses: None Required Residency Requirements: Ohio residents preferred This is a home-based position but may require one or more days a week in the office as determined by the supervisor. Office location: Maumee, OH Will consider applicants from a surrounding state to Ohio within one hundred miles from the Ohio border. Border states include Michigan, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Kentucky, and Indiana. Applicants must be able to meet travel requirements and be willing and able to obtain Ohio Certification ​ K12, a Stride Company, believes in Education for ANY ONE. The Special Education Assistant Coordinator, Part-time, supports the Special Education Coordinator in ensuring that the school’s Special Education Program achieves its goals and complies with relevant guidelines and applicable state and federal laws. Essential Functions: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential duties. Assists with the development and implementation all policies and procedures related to the Special Education program; Helps develop and implement a results-oriented program design that has synergy with K12 curriculum; Assists with the assurance that teachers working in Special Education programs meet all the standards and expectations outlined; Assists with the promotion of professional development of teachers through powerful training; Assists with compliance documentation as required by the state for Special Education students and program requirements; Assists with the development and dissemination of “best practices” for Special Education programs in the virtual school setting. Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no supervisory responsibilities. Minimum Required Qualifications: High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) Certificate AND Two (2) years of related work experience OR Equivalent combination of education and experience Other Required Qualifications: Understanding of state standards, state and federal regulations Great organizational and time management skills Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook Ability to travel 20% of the time for testing, professional development and meetings. Ability to pass required background check Desired Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree Previous experience in Special Education Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
