  • Opportunity: Chelsea Piers Field House is seeking a dedicated and skilled Weekend Volleyball Instructor to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for delivering high-level volleyball coaching and player development for classes serving ages 9–15 on Saturdays and Sundays, while executing the program's vision and culture. This is a great opportunity for a coach looking for a consistent weekend schedule, with the option to pick up additional hours through parties and events. This role reports to the Basketball Director and Coaching and Development Manager. Core Responsibilities Teach high-level volleyball classes on Saturdays and Sundays for ages 9–15 Assist with other sports classes, most prominently basketball and tennis, as needed Maintain the same standard of enthusiasm, commitment, and structure across volleyball and any other sport being assisted Parties and events are available for additional hours, for coaches who want to pick up extra time beyond their weekend volleyball classes

  • Coach, you will be expected to: Deliver high-level volleyball coaching and player development for weekend classes serving ages 9–15, ensuring adherence to the program's vision and culture Assist with other sports classes as needed, most prominently basketball and tennis, bringing the same level of enthusiasm, commitment, and structure you bring to volleyball Maintain strong class management, and build genuine connection with both kids and families — treating every interaction as an opportunity to build trust and deliver excellent service Collaborate closely with fellow coaches to stay aligned on curriculum and coaching approach, communicating consistently so every class reflects the same standard and delivers the best possible experience for the kids Be a steady, trusted presence for each player — going beyond the fundamentals to build real relationships and foster a sense of belonging within the class Assist with administrative duties as needed or assigned, including maintaining accurate records of player progress and class activities Optionally pick up parties and events for additional hours beyond the standard weekend volleyball

You: You are an enthusiastic, dependable, and professional coach with a passion for working with kids ages 9–15. Volleyball is your primary sport, and you're equally willing and able to assist with other sports classes, most prominently basketball and tennis, bringing that same enthusiasm, commitment, and structure to every class you lead. You bring the same energy and patience to a beginner just learning the fundamentals as you would to a more advanced player with established skills — this role requires an equal ability and willingness to coach across the full range of skill levels within the age group, not a preference for one group over another. You thrive in a fast-paced environment and love engaging with kids in this age range.

You will also have: Experience coaching volleyball at the youth, club, school, or grassroots level A bachelor's degree or higher (preferred) Willingness and ability to assist with other sports classes, most prominently basketball and tennis Strong knowledge of volleyball fundamentals, current trends, and coaching techniques for youth players The ability to establish and maintain strong relationships with coaches, parents, and families Strong customer connection skills, with the ability to engage kids and families in a way that builds trust and reflects excellent service Leadership skills to motivate players and communicate effectively with parents and coaches Willingness to implement, enhance, and maintain the program's core philosophies Excellent decision-making, problem-solving, and organization skills Availability every Saturday and Sunday Excellent verbal and written communication skills CPR and SafeSport certification

Requirements

Candidates must have experience coaching youth sports and possess strong knowledge of volleyball fundamentals and coaching techniques. A bachelor's degree is preferred, and applicants must hold CPR and SafeSport certifications.
