About the role

Enrichment teachers will develop and implement academic lesson plans to support the literacy and social development of elementary school students. They are responsible for supervising daily activities, mentoring volunteers, and maintaining a safe and productive learning environment.

  • Enrichment Teacher - English Language Learner - Woodman West/Shady Grove The YMCA of Greater Richmond is seeking an enthusiastic, passionate education professional (certified teacher) to serve as an Enrichment Teacher in a community-based afterschool program for students in grades K-5. Program hours are 3:30-5:30 PM Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays during the school year, following the Henrico County Public Schools calendar. This part time position starts at $27-$31 per hour. Many of our students are English Language Learners, and we have a strong emphasis on literacy in this program, so experience in these areas is a preferred. DUTIES of an Enrichment Teacher Enrichment Teachers will work closely with the Regional Director of Community Outreach to implement academic enrichment programs for elementary school students. Specific duties include development of relevant lessons; ensuring academic and social development of scholars; identifying the needs and creating original instructional plans; monitoring scholars' progress and making adjustments; working to create a safe and productive learning environment; providing mentorship to volunteers; and supervising scholars in in-person day to day activities as well as special functions, such as field trips. QUALIFICATIONS of an Enrichment Teacher Candidates must have at least three years of related experience. A teaching certification is preferred but not required. Must be a high school graduate, 18 years of age, and have at least six months experience working with youth. Excellent verbal, written, organizational, and technological skills. Strong relationship building, mentoring, communication and leadership skills.
