Bentonville - Bentonville, AR 72712Thaden School now seeks a Long-term Substitute Latin faculty member to implement innovative, inclusive curricula and support students as they develop their linguistic understanding, inquiry, and critical thinking skills. This part-time position runs from late November through early March, with an anticipated commitment of 20-25 hours per week. Role and Responsibilities Teach three sections of Middle and Upper School Latin courses. Serve on a grade-level team to support the socioemotional, academic, and intellectual development of students. Employ standards-based instructional and assessment practices. Serve as an Advisor to a small group of students (includes academic coaching, facilitating conversations on social justice and cultural competency, supporting the development of skills, and frequent communication with parents). Sponsor a student club. Support community-based learning and outdoor education trips. Participate in faculty meetings and parent-teacher conferences. Support all school programs as needed. Additional duties as assigned. Skills, Qualifications, and Attributes Experience teaching Latin in Middle and Upper School. Spoken Latin is a plus but not required for the role. Mastery in the subject matter (a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is required). Ability to communicate high expectations and standards for student learning. Understanding of and sensitivity to adolescent challenges. Ability to think broadly and creatively about student-centered learning. Physical Requirements Job frequently requires standing, walking, and handling objects with hands.
