Description Preamble Boston College High School is a Catholic, Jesuit, independent school serving young men across grades 7-12 from various communities across Massachusetts. ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES This job entails teaching four sections of high school English across at least two different grade levels/courses. In addition to classroom English instruction, this teacher will also need to fulfill various student mentoring and prefecting roles throughout the school.
SELECTION CRITERIA A passion for literature and teaching English to high school students of different abilities and backgrounds. A bachelor’s degree in English (a master’s degree in English, Education, or other relevant field preferred, but not required). Previous experience teaching English at the high school level (preferred, but not required). A strong foundation in and knowledge of literature, language, and the craft of writing. A willingness and enthusiasm to work in a collaborative department and also reflect on and develop one’s own pedagogy. A commitment to working within and supporting both BC High’s Jesuit identity and its diversity, equity, and inclusion practices.
Salary: Commensurate with academic attainment and years of applicable teaching experience: $57,000–$118,000 annually
