About the role

The assistant coach will assist in managing the NCAA Division I women's basketball program, including conducting practices and player development. They are also responsible for scouting potential student-athletes and maintaining communication with high school players.

Under general direction, is responsible for assisting with the management of a competitive NCAA Division I women’s basketball program; assists with conditioning, practices, recruiting, and travel arrangements.

Job Duties Assists head coach in running team practices; oversees practices; provides group and one-on-one instruction; assists with player development; remains informed about student-athletes' academic progress.

Performs recruiting-related activities: contacts high school players through written or verbal communication; travels to various high schools to scout games; assesses the skills and abilities of potential student-athletes; provides feedback to the head coach.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge of women’s basketball concepts/strategies and NCAA rules and regulations Knowledge of physical conditioning techniques and weight training Knowledge of basic statistics Recruiting skills Verbal and written communication skills Interpersonal/human relations skills Organizational/planning skills Leadership and motivational skills Ability to assess athletic talent Ability to serve as a positive role model

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree, supplemented with two (2) years of playing/coaching experience at the high school, collegiate, or professional level.
