Academies of Math and Science (AMS) is an academically advanced charter school network serving predominantly low-income students, with a decade-long track record of being either the highest or one of the highest performing K-8 charter schools in Arizona.

As part of the AMS family, your role as a paraprofessional is to work alongside our team of talented educators in guiding motivated students through an advanced curriculum.

Your role in the classroom includes working with our scholars alongside the teacher and occasionally substituting for teachers when needed.

Key Responsibilities Supervise and support with campus-wide activities such as lunch, recess, arrival, and dismissal to ensure student safety Support lead teachers in delivering instruction by assisting with lesson activities, classroom management, and transitions.

Work one-on-one or in small groups with students to reinforce skills, reteach concepts, and support individualized learning plans.

Assist in maintaining a safe, orderly, and inclusive classroom environment that promotes respect and engagement.

Substitute for lead teachers as needed to ensure learning continues uninterrupted.

Prepare instructional materials, set up classroom resources, and assist with grading or documentation as directed.

Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and support staff to meet the academic and social-emotional needs of students.

Model professionalism, respect, and high expectations in every interaction with students, staff, and families.

Qualifications & competencies: High School diploma or equivalent and passed the paraprofessional exam OR Associate’s degree or higher Prior experience working with children in a school setting.

Ability to obtain a Level One IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card Preferred: Bilingual in English and Spanish ​Why work for us?

Requirements

Candidates must hold a high school diploma or equivalent and have passed the paraprofessional exam, or possess an associate degree or higher. Prior experience working with children in a school setting and the ability to obtain a Level One IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card are required.
