About the role

Provide supplemental in-person tutoring and academic assistance tailored to students' unique learning needs. Collaborate with teachers to monitor student progress and analyze data to adjust instructional strategies.

Position Title: Title I Tutor Reports To: Title I Director FLSA Status: Exempt Salary Schedule: $40/Hour Work Days: As Needed

Essential Duties

  • Provide supplemental, in-person tutoring/academic assistance in the student’s area or areas of greatest need.
  • Use differentiated instruction tailored to students' unique learning needs, helping them grasp challenging concepts.
  • Collaborate with the student’s teacher concerning student academic needs, strengths, and weaknesses and how best to meet the student’s needs.
  • Engage students in appropriate academic activities.
  • Help students develop strong study skills.
  • Establish and maintain rapport with students.
  • Maintain records of student progress.
  • Provide evaluations and other reports as requested by the Title I Department.
  • Participate in scheduled meetings.
  • Monitor progress and analyze data to tailor instruction based on the students’ specific needs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Hold a valid Georgia Teaching Certificate. (May qualify with an expired teaching certificate.)
  • Ability to work well with students, parents, staff, and the community.
  • Exceptional integrity, commitment to confidentiality, excellent character, and strong professional reputation.
  • Must abide by the Georgia Professional Standards Code of Ethics for Educators.
  • Must be regularly, predictably, and reliably at work and at the physical worksite.
  • Must perform tasks involving prolonged periods of standing, walking, and sitting.
  • Must perform routine physical activities such as bending and lifting/pushing/pulling up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to properly and consistently supervise students, particularly during emergency situations.
  • Vision, hearing, written, and verbal communications are essential factors in performing required tasks.

Requirements

Candidates must hold a valid Georgia Teaching Certificate and demonstrate the ability to work effectively with students, parents, and staff. The role requires physical stamina for standing, walking, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
