Job roles

A flexible, campus-based educator who provides classroom coverage when teachers are absent and supports campus-wide duties as assigned. This role serves as a talent pipeline, preparing qualified candidates for future full-time teaching openings within the district.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university required (or actively pursuing degree).

Knowledge and skills

  • Ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral forms with all levels of management, both internal and external to the campus.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships both internal and external to the district.
  • Ability to use computers including software, database used by the district, spreadsheet and word processing software, calculator, copy machine, and telephone.

Key responsibilities

  • Deliver instruction based on provided lesson plans and learning objectives, using appropriate instructional strategies to meet diverse student needs.
  • Cover classrooms campus-wide when the assigned teacher is absent
  • Manage student behavior and classroom routines
  • Take attendance and complete required documentation
  • Build positive, professional relationships with students, staff, families, and campus leadership.
  • Work collaboratively with experienced teachers to strengthen instructional planning and classroom practices
  • Support campus-wide duties as assigned (duty, lunch, dismissal, testing, etc.)
  • Communicate with administration on coverage needs
  • Attend required staff meetings and professional development
  • Step into full-time teaching roles as openings arise
  • Perform any other duties as assigned

Work environment and physical requirements

  • Light
  • Work: may require occasional light lifting.
  • Nights and weekend activities will be occasionally required.
  • Position is in an office setting and may involve prolonged work at a desk in one location.
  • Moderate travel is required.
