Up to $60/hour | Oswego, IL | Full-Time Hours | 2026-2027 School Year | Support students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing through specialized instruction, collaboration, and inclusive practices that drive communication growth, independence, and academic achievement.

About the Role

Hello, Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teachers! Ampersand Therapy is hiring a full-time Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher for a school setting in Oswego, IL. In this role, you’ll play a critical part in student success by empowering students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing through specialized instruction, collaboration, and support that drives academic success, communication growth, and independence.

Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in compliance with federal and state regulations. Conduct assessments and use data to guide instructional decisions. Support development of communication skills, including spoken language, sign language, and/or total communication approaches. Collaborate with general education teachers to adapt curriculum and instructional strategies. Work with related service providers (e.g., audiologists, speech-language pathologists). Provide training and support to staff regarding hearing loss and classroom accommodations. Monitor and maintain assistive listening devices and hearing technology. Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress. Maintain accurate documentation and compliance with IDEA and district policies. What We’re Looking For Bachelor’s degree in Deaf Education, Special Education, or related field (Master’s preferred). Valid Illinois state teaching certification and endorsement in Deaf/Hard of Hearing (or eligibility for certification). Knowledge of hearing impairments, language development, and instructional strategies. Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) preferred (or willingness to obtain). Experience working with students with hearing loss in a school setting preferred, not required. Requirements

Requires a bachelor's degree in Deaf Education, Special Education, or a related field, with a master's degree preferred. Candidates must hold or be eligible for a valid Illinois state teaching certification with a Deaf/Hard of Hearing endorsement.
