The Preschool Program Trainer is responsible for developing and implementing training curricula while providing on-site coaching and orientation for new and existing staff. They ensure all training activities comply with OCFS and NYSED regulatory requirements to maintain high standards of workplace performance.

Pay $25.00 - $27.00 an hour

The Preschool Program Trainer provides implementation and oversight of training needs for Preschool staff and works collaboratively with program leadership to ensure the development of training curricula and processes aligned with regulatory requirements.

The Preschool Program Trainer will enhance employees' competencies by providing side-by-side training and group training designed to boost employees’ workplace performance and knowledge of expectations.

This position also ensures training methods incorporate diverse approaches to accommodate a variety of learning styles.

This position is responsible for evaluating the effectiveness of training and adjusting as necessary to promote staff competency.

Additionally, this position works collaboratively with program and agency leadership to enhance the overall training and orientation experience of new staff while providing input into ongoing training and staff development activities across the agency.

The position will work collaboratively with program leadership, the New York State Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS), and the New York State Education Department (NYSED).

The Trainer will monitor for changes in regulations and adjust training requirements as needed.

Core Responsibilities

Transition new hires from agency orientation into their program position across all preschool sites

Organize, coordinate, and provide onsite orientation for new hires in the preschool program

Develop, organize, and implement a range of training activities using a variety of instructional techniques and formats such as role playing, simulations, team exercises, group discussions, videos, and lectures.

Develop processes/systems which ensure training compliance with OCFS and NYSED regulations.

Train and coach new hires as well as existing employees.

Complete ongoing, on-site observation, coaching, and assessments of skills of new hires while in their assigned classrooms

Support existing employees to improve or enhance existing skills while in the program.

Collaborate and coordinate with leadership on providing role-specific trainings

Assess training effectiveness to ensure incorporation of taught skills and techniques into employees' work behavior.

Support certified Teacher Assistants in mentoring new staff.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Early Childhood Special Education, Child Development, Education, or a closely related field required.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of three years of preschool teaching preferred/ experience required.
  • Previous experience providing adult education, coaching, mentoring, or staff training preferred.
  • Knowledge of New York State OCFS regulations, NYSED requirements, and early childhood best practices.
  • Strong presentation, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Must have a valid NYS Driver’s License.
