Summary: We have an immediate opening for a Part-Time IMRF year-round Gymnastics Head Coach position! The Head Gymnastics Coach provides coaching and instruction for the early childhood and recreational gymnastics program and gymnastics summer camp at our brand-new, 10,000 square-foot gym! This positions assists the Gymnastics Supervisor with administrative and programming duties for gymnastics programs as directed. May coach up to 29 hours a week, including weekends, depending upon the amount of programming and administrative work responsibilities. Apply today and come join the Highland Park Gymnastics Club! Supervisory Responsibilities This position has no supervisory responsibilities. Essential Job Duties

Assist the Gymnastics Supervisor with implementing the gymnastics programming as developed and planned.

Provide direct gymnastics instruction and coaching for participants of varying ages and skill levels; teach proper gymnastics techniques, progressions, conditioning, and skill development in a safe and encouraging manner.

Develop lesson plans and practice activities that promote participant growth, confidence, and enjoyment; evaluate participant skill progression and provide constructive feedback to athletes and families as appropriate, in accordance with program guidelines and in coordination with the Gymnastics Supervisor.

Demonstrate and enforce proper use of gymnastics equipment and spotting techniques.

Train all instructors in proper gymnastics skills, techniques, and instructional expectations as established by the West Ridge Facility & Gymnastics Manager.

Establish and maintain daily and weekly class rotations following the curriculum.

Manage proper placement of students in class levels based on skill level.

Assist with recruiting, hiring and training and mentoring a team of enthusiastic instructors (coaches).

Assist with the staff schedule per session and find subs if needed to ensure smooth daily operations.

Daily set up and cleanup of gymnastics equipment for age and level appropriate skills.

Provide recommendations for programming to maximize facility usage.

Perform necessary administrative tasks such as attendance taking and general correspondence with patrons and co-workers.

Effectively communicate and demonstrate proper techniques on all equipment.

Lead and attend Gymnastics staff meetings and trainings.

Staff and oversee open gyms to ensure a fun, safe environment.

Supervise the opening and closing of the gym as necessary.

Maintain a neat and clean facility including proper equipment storage.

Communicate all feedback and other related information to the Gymnastics Supervisor.

Work closely with class coaches and teams’ coaches to ensure proper skill development and a smooth transition between levels.

Assist with and attend meets and competitions, or special events as assigned.

Assist with program marketing including brochure information and website accuracy.

Assist with summer camps, school day out programming and skill clinics for early childhood and recreational level gymnastics.

Act as manager on duty in absence of facility management staff.

Performs other duties as assigned.

QualificationsEducation and

Experience: High school diploma or equivalent with preference given to a candidate holding a four-year college degree from a recognized college or university; have at least three (3) years’ experience working as a gymnastics instructor; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Some previous supervisory experience is preferred.

Ability to communicate and maintain patience in a teaching setting.

Ability to coach at all levels of gymnastics.

Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.

Working

Conditions: While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in an indoor office and gymnastics gym setting. May occasionally be exposed to outside weather conditions for camps and special events. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The employee may walk on uneven gym floor surfaces and occasionally works around moving bodies.
