The Opportunity

Prospect Schools is seeking a Permanent Building Substitute Teacher. The Building Substitute Teacher is a full-time, school-based educator who provides daily instructional and classroom coverage across all grade levels and subject areas as needed. This full-time substitute is embedded within the school community, ensuring continuity of instruction, strong classroom management, and consistent support for students and staff. The ideal candidate demonstrates a willingness to be flexible in your role and adapt to school and student needs.

Prospect teachers are grounded in an equity-driven approach following the principles of the International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum where instruction emphasizes academic rigor, critical thinking, global mindedness, and inclusive classroom practices. As an educator at Prospect, you will be part of a collaborative and high-performing instructional team and will report directly to a member of the school leadership team.

Duties: & Responsibilities:

Planning and Instruction

Design and deliver culturally responsive, engaging lessons that support learning in an intentionally diverse classroom and actively engage a variety of different learning styles

Utilize data, strong content knowledge, and effective pedagogy to plan clear, objective-driven instruction to advance learning for all students

Collaborate with co-teachers and instructional leaders through coaching, professional development, and, when applicable, advisory groups to support students’ academic and social-emotional growth

  • Set clear expectations and consistent routines to create a purposeful, warm, and supportive learning environment
  • Build a culturally sustaining classroom community where all students feel known, safe, valued, and respected by adults and peers

Embody a “Team First” mindset by collaborating across grade level and content teams, participating in professional development, and partnering with the broader school community

Demonstrate a commitment to giving and receiving feedback for the purpose of continuous personal growth and betterment of the teaching and learning team

  • Build strong partnerships with caregivers through consistent communication and regular updates on student progress
  • Use caregiver feedback to continuously improve instruction and the overall learning experience
  • Coordinate and facilitate family meetings as needed and attend any/all school wide caregiver events

About You

You have earned a Bachelors Degree.

You have prior teaching experience.

Salary

The salary range for this role starts at $52,000, then increases based on years of experience. Our salaries are set through a lens of equity, and based on an individual’s skills, education, and years of experience relevant to the role.
