Special Education Teacher

The Special Education Teacher at Mill Pond Schools provides comprehensive academic, social, emotional, and behavioral support within a highly structured therapeutic school environment. Collaborating as part of a multidisciplinary team, the teacher develops and implements individualized education programs (IEPs) and tailored instructional strategies to meet the diverse needs of students, ensuring a safe, engaging, and supportive learning environment.

The Mill Pond Schools, with locations in Springfield and the Berkshires, serve students—kindergarten through age 22—who have social-emotional and/or behavioral challenges, a learning disability, or who may have a diagnosis of high-functioning Autism. We are committed to serving the whole child, including the child’s family. Our goal is to assist students in developing the skills necessary to successfully return to a less-restrictive environment, and, ultimately, to their previous school setting.

Schedule

Monday shift, 7

  • 30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. and Tuesday –
  • Friday shifts, 7:30 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Qualifications

  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree with a current teaching licensure in Teacher of Students with Moderate Disabilities K-8 or 5-12.
  • Requires excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Experience working in educational settings with students of varying backgrounds, presentations and diagnoses preferred.
