Upon completion of service term, each member will earn a Segal AmeriCorps Education Award in the amount of $3,697.50. Also, a Living Allowance totaling in the amount of $12,500.00 will be provided in which the amount will be divided up and paid bi-weekly. This position is preferably for all candidates who recently graduated from high school, are current college students, or looking to pursue other post-secondary education endeavors.

  • Friday between 1:00pm-9:00pm during afterschool program and from 9:00am-5:00pm during the summer. Hours occasionally differ due to non-school attendance days for CPS students, and for any club site or BGCC special events. Roles and Responsibilities Assist program staff in facilitation of

  • Programs which include but not limited to: Power Hour, Triple Play (Daily Challenges and Social Recreation), Healthy Habits, STEAM/STEM, I Am A Reader, etc. Assure that all clubs participate in required AmeriCorps Serve Illinois National Days of Service. Club placement members will take lead in organizing and facilitating of all service activities with support from program staff and club leadership. All clubs will be required to participate in the following service projects: Veterans Week, MLK Jr. Day, and National AmeriCorps Week. Attend the annual AmeriCorps Serve Illinois National Service Summit event (TBA). Collect sign in sheets for assigned daily/weekly programs. Must complete the First Aid/CPR Training when offered. Must complete the Mandated Reporter, Child Sexual Abuse and Harassment Trainings. Provides guidance and role modeling to our club youth. Helps maintain order and discipline of club members. Participates in all required BGCC PD trainings to expand knowledge and skills. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications High school or working towards a high school diploma or equivalent Working knowledge of youth development as well as experience with Boys & Girls Clubs preferred Computer competency with working knowledge of computer programs and software Ability to communicate effectively with youth, parents, staff, volunteers and general public Self-starter with exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills with a keen sense of prioritizing, time management and follow through. ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITION Must pass criminal background check which includes Truescreen fingerprints. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT Working with youth at the Boys and Girls Club site location! Ability to bend, squat, climb stairs, walk, and lift frequently. Ability to lift up to 25lbs occasionally.
