ESY Physical Therapist Vacancies (In Person)

Elementary Locations: Glebe (PreK Developmental), Innovation (MIPA), Fleet (DHH/Life skills/Interlude), Carlin Springs

Secondary Locations: Kenmore MS and Wakefield HS, Shriver

July 6, 2026 through July 31, 2026

Professional Days and Orientation: July 1, 2

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum level of education is a bachelor's degree in physical therapy, including clinical training, from an accredited college or university.
  • Must have passed the physical therapy licensure examination and hold a current Virginia license to practice as issued by the Virginia Board of Medicine.

Experience

  • Experience in the public school system physical therapy program or pediatrics.
  • Familiarity with physical therapy assessments appropriate for school age children and pertinent to the educational environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively (in writing and orally) with educational personnel, administrators, parents, students, and community members.

Responsibilities

  • Include:
  • Function as an itinerant clinician to provide appropriate "educational model" physical therapy service for identified students.
  • Collaborate with teachers and school staff to provide integrated programs for identified students
  • Assess and evaluate students with disabilities, interpret results, and plan for appropriate intervention services in collaboration with the IEP Committee.
  • Working with students preschool-age through 21 years of age, with a variety of disabilities.
  • Collaborating with regular and special education teachers to provide integrated educational programming.
  • Document student progress including IEP updates/Progress Reports.
