About the role

The position involves performing clerical and instructional support tasks within the library media center. The assistant is expected to interact positively with students, staff, and parents while following library procedures.

This position is a 0.5 FTE at Hoffman-Boston Elementary School.

Qualifications

  • Assistants must meet the requirements of the NCLB and Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) at the time of hire.
  • A high school diploma, and An Associate Degree or two years of college study.
  • At least 60 semester hours, 12 which must be in English or mathematics, depending on job responsibilities, or
  • A score of at least 455 on the Parapro Test.

Experience

  • Experience working with a Library Media Specialist.
  • Experience working in an elementary school setting.

Responsibilities

  • Familiarity with library procedures and children’s literature.
  • Ability to work and to interact in a positive and courteous manner with all students, staff and parents.
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
  • Patient, flexible, and dependable.
  • Performs clerical and instructional support work in the library/media center.

Salary

Salary will be based on the FY2026-27 salary schedule.
