Kissimmee Youth Academy in Kissimmee, Florida, is a secure Youth Academy providing trauma-informed residential care for males ages 14 to 18. The program focuses on mental health and substance abuse treatment, offering a structured environment that combines clinical therapy, education, and enrichment activities. Youth receive individualized treatment based on their needs, participating in individual, group, and family therapy, as well as life skills training, restorative justice practices, victim impact awareness, and pre-vocational preparation. Licensed professionals provide 24/7 care in small group living units, and a licensed dietitian oversees nutritional support to promote stabilization and successful reintegration into the community.

About the Role

As the Activities Coordinator, you will play a key role in supporting the emotional, cognitive, and social development of youth by designing and facilitating therapeutic recreational activities. These programs promote pro-social behavior, physical engagement, and reintegration into the community while enhancing coping, communication, and leadership skills. Key Responsibilities Plan, organize, and coordinate structured recreation and leisure activities Use intervention modalities such as creative arts, sports, dance/movement, adventure programming, and leisure education Provide recreational programming during non-traditional hours to promote pro-social behavior Assess youth capabilities, interests, and needs; adjust activities based on progress and goals Consult with clinicians, physicians, and treatment teams to align recreational goals with treatment plans Participate in care planning and team meetings Design instructional strategies and community reintegration activities to build skills and confidence Tailor programs to meet individual youth learning styles, emotional needs, and physical abilities Apply clinical knowledge to support individualized goal achievement Document treatment progress in accordance with plans of care Other Duties Include Participate in team discussions, providing effective input and strategies Attend case conferences and family education meetings Maintain confidentiality and professional conduct at all times Use appropriate teaching methods in all instruction and discharge activities Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications
