About this job

Provides advanced assistance and support to teachers and administration. Responsible for assisting teachers with both instructional and behavioral management duties. Provides students with assistance on in-class work and be of assistance in preparing student assignments and in grading student work. May also assist in the Library Media Center or the Computer Lab.

What You'll Do

  • Supervises assigned students and assists in the facilitation of the instructional programs as directed.
  • Assists in conducting testing and assessment, multi-media activities, recordkeeping, computer operation, discipline, and other activities, as directed.
  • Prepares and sets-up educational materials; assists and supports the development of lesson plans and provides feedback to teacher(s)/supervisor(s) on individual students.
  • Presents subject matter to students under the direction and guidance of teachers, using lectures, computer-based instruction, discussions, or supervised role-playing methods.
  • Assists individuals and small student groups and reinforces learning concepts presented by teachers; discusses and coordinates instructional efforts with teachers and educational staff.
  • Communicates and coordinates with students and parents about routine issues in their native language.
  • Supervises and monitors students at assigned site and reinforces positive student behaviors and student related administration policies and rules.
  • May provide instruction support to teachers in designated curricula (e.g., reading, writing, science, social studies, mathematics, library media) and may support teachers in the instruction and teaching of personal computer hardware and software skills or, as designated, oversee the general function, operation and maintenance of a computer laboratory.
  • Maintains the confidentiality of student information.
  • Completes training programs and attends meetings as required.
