Student Assistance Counselor

Student assistance counselors provide prevention, early identification, assessment, intervention, and referral of substance misuse and mental health problems in a school setting. They also conduct screenings, deliver classroom-Based prevention education, and facilitate parent programming.

Candidates must have a master’s degree in a behavioral health specialty and ri student assistance certification after two years of full-Time employment. They should also possess professional verbal, written, and presentation skills, along with knowledge of best practices in substance use prevention and treatment.
