Job description
- Icahn Charter School paraprofessionals are dedicated to the academic success and high achievement of all students.
- They are committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of all students in the classroom.
- Paraprofessionals may support an individual student, a small group or students or whole class instruction.
- They support the planning and instruction of the classroom teacher and provide insight into individual student needs.
- The classroom paraprofessional contributes to data collection and reporting on trends observed in student engagement, achievement and participation.
- They are responsive to feedback and uphold the Icahn instructional priorities.
Responsibilities
- Supports all aspects of instruction in the classroom
- Works with individual students or with small groups of students under the general supervision of the classroom teacher to reinforce instruction
- Building community and commitment to shared learning among other paraprofessionals at the school or within the network
- Provides classroom and behavior management support and implements building wide strategies to promote positive student behavior
- Consults with members of student educational team
- Collaborates with and responds to the classroom teacher
- Provides administrative support
- Acting in a way that promotes positive student behavior
- Communicating with teachers, administration and students
- Ensuring the safety and security of students
- Assignment Dependent: Contributes information to IEP and supports student goals within their IEP
- Assignment Dependent: Provides clerical or technical support; Provides personal and/or health assistance
- Maintains and builds the knowledge, skills and mindsets necessary for success in the position
- Promotes effective communication within the school building and across the network
- Acts ethically and professionally in all decisions, actions and relationships
- Performs related duties
