Core responsibilities

The special education teacher provides academic and functional instruction to middle and high school students diagnosed with autism or pervasive developmental disorder in a school setting. This role involves monitoring student achievement through data collection, developing and monitoring the student’s iep, and managing student behavior using individualized motivational systems and positive behavior support plans.

Requirements summary

Candidates must possess a bachelor's level degree and current pennsylvania certification in special education to be considered for this role. Prior experience working with students facing behavioral health challenges within a school environment is preferred, and content area certifications, particularly in science, are advantageous.
