The Preschool Teacher Assistant is responsible for assisting Head Start classroom teachers in the care and development of enrolled children and maintaining the classroom environment. This includes assisting in planning and teaching developmentally appropriate activities to advance children's cognitive, social/emotional, physical, and creative skills.
A High School Diploma or GED is required, along with specific certifications such as FCCPC Birth–Five or CDA Preschool certification, and DCF 45-hour childcare training certificates. One to two years of experience working with preschool children is preferred, ideally within a Head Start program.
