Job description

Description Short-term substitute teachers serve one or more days when teachers are absent from school. Long-term substitutes work daily for an extended period when a teacher’s absence is prolonged.

Responsibilities

include: · Cover assigned teacher's classroom and non-classroom responsibilities · Report student attendance and lunch count to the main office · Monitor and ensure student safety at all times · Provide instruction based on lesson plans left by the teacher · Supervise recess and/or lunch duty according to teacher's supervision schedule · Collect and secure assignments to be graded by the teacher

In addition to the above, long-term substitutes also · Make lesson plans following the curriculum · Grade assignments, tests and quizzes · Attend faculty meetings as part of the staff

Long-term substitutes are compensated at a higher rate than short-term substitutes.
