The Lifeguard is responsible for overseeing aquatics safety and assisting with pool maintenance and camper supervision. They also facilitate swim testing and ensure compliance with emergency procedures.
Candidates must be at least 18 years old and possess current certifications in Lifeguarding, CPR, and First Aid. A minimum of 2 years of lifeguard experience is required, along with a high school diploma or equivalent.
The Lifeguard is responsible to assist in overseeing aquatics safety, assist in maintaining inventory – equipment and supplies, assist in pool and restroom maintenance, assist in completing records and reports, assist in providing aquatics orientation and evaluation, facilitate weekly swim testing of campers, understand emergency procedures and participate in Agency activities. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES Role responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: Assist in supervising all campers and staff in aquatics area and activities; assist in overseeing aquatic safety. Assist in providing aquatics orientation for campers and staff. Assist with swimming assessments on all swimmers. Ensure understanding of all camp aquatic emergency procedures. Maintain the Buddy Board System, including keeping a list with each swimmer’s name, swimming ability, and the name of their assigned buddy. Maintain Swimming Assessment documentation. Assist in the timely completion of all necessary records and reports. Other duties as assigned by Camp Director and/or Aquatics Director. Establish a work environment that creates positive communication between supervisors and employees and assimilates new employees to the Agency’s culture, values and mission. Ensure compliance with all pertinent government and agency regulations and operating standards. Assist with required pool testing, cleaning, and maintenance.
JOB REQUIREMENTS Must be at least 18 years of age Must possess current certifications for Lifeguard, CPR and First Aid through approved courses. Minimum of 2 years of lifeguard or Aquatics Director experience High School graduate and/or equivalent required Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances are warranted This position does require regular, substantial, or unrestricted access to any individuals we support and is not required to be fingerprinted under any regulatory entities. Must have a valid New York State Driver’s License An equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed above may be substituted for the above education and experience requirements.
