- ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Maintain a safe swim program for the campers of the YMCA Day Camp at Camp Tracy Provide oversight and ensure safety for all program participants at all times while in the water and at the waterfront.
- Assist in organizing and administering a well-rounded aquatics program including swim lessons, free swim, and other outside rental opportunities.
- Keep accurate and thorough records of attendance and participation for open swims.
- Keep waterfront areas neat and orderly.
- Recommend needed supplies and equipment necessary for maintenance and safety standards to be met for proper functioning of swim area.
- Provide a safe, healthy, and fun experience for campers on the Waterfront during Camp Tracy.
Requirements
KNOWLEDGE/EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: Current certification in lifesaving, CPR, and first aid Current Lifeguard certification w/ waterfront & open-water component Must be able to relate to and communicate with children and adults Valid and clean driver’s license desired EXPERIENCE: Prior experience Lifeguarding or in aquatic environments preferred SKILLS & COMPETENCIES: Customer service skills. Team player Excellent communication skills Ability to work independently Critical thinking Flexibility WORK SCEHDULE: SeasonalJune – August / Monday – Friday 20 hours a week
