Middle School Bible Teacher

Department: Middle School

Reports To: Middle School Principal

Position summary

The teacher serves as a key member of the academic department of Liberty Christian Academy. The position is responsible for providing knowledge and instruction to students in helping them to realize God-given potential and to live lives that glorify God in the spiritual, academic, social, physical and vocational realms.

Position qualifications

  • A Bible degree equal to a bachelor’s degree or higher
  • Doctrinal alignment with LCA/TRBC is required
  • ACSI certification preferred
  • Classroom teaching experience preferred

Essential duties and responsibilities: The following are the responsibilities of the Middle School Bible Teacher in relation to:

  • Spiritual leadership -
  • Act as the spiritual leader of school and community.
  • Show evidence of a consistent time of personal Bible study, prayer and outreach.
  • Maintain a Christ-like attitude.
  • Instructional program -
  • Plan, prepare and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning and promote enthusiasm for learning
  • Use relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction
  • Assess and record students’ progress and provide grades and feedback
  • Maintain a tidy and orderly classroom
  • Communicate, consult and co-operate with other members of the school staff
  • Maintain good order and discipline amongst students under one’s care and safeguard their health and safety at all times
  • Maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the school.
  • Participate in staff, group or other meetings related to the school curriculum
  • Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and use information to adjust teaching strategies
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of students' progress and development
  • Adhere to the standards written for each subject
  • Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues and parents regarding student progress and student needs
  • Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities
  • Participate in appropriate professional development and activities
  • Participate in extracurricular activities such as social activities, sporting activities, clubs and student organizations as directed.
  • Manages and conducts orientation to foster positive attitude toward our students and mission goals to reflect the overall values of LCA.
  • Attend and participate in chapel and other spiritual activities presented by the administration and campus pastor
  • Fulfill other duties as assigned
  • Budgeting -
  • To turn in a proposal for the needs of their respective division to the Department Chair or Lead Teacher depending on the school division.
  • To ensure that receipts are kept and turned into the Department Chair, Lead Teacher, or appropriate administrator for all approved expenditures
  • Community -
  • To lead their respective division in maintaining a positive Christian witness both in the school and in the community.
  • To present the school and its program in a positive manner to the community.
