  • Description: This position reports to the school principal. The substitute teacher follows the classroom teacher’s lesson plans and maintains oversight of his or her students. Qualifications A strong clear Christian testimony A lifestyle of biblical integrity A spirit of dedication, teamwork, flexibility, and responsiveness to counsel Acceptance without reservation of the OCS Parent Covenant, Statement of Faith, Statement on Marriage and Sexuality, Statement of Diversity and Core Values

Duties and Responsibilities

Spiritual Models a consistent daily walk with Jesus Christ in speech, actions, attitudes Actively involved in church Follows Matthew 18 principle in dealing with interpersonal conflict Encourages students to accept God’s gift of salvation and grow in their faith General Takes attendance each hour Follows teacher lesson plans to create a cohesive and consistent learning experience for students Monitors student behavior in and out of the classroom, including in the hallways, break areas, and cafeteria Manage the classroom effectively to encourage student participation, minimize distractions and maintain a positive learning environment Fulfills any teacher duties (break duty, lunch duty, etc.) Document any student issues and leaves notes on engagement and behavior Interacts with students and staff to maintain order and provide assistance when needed Maintains confidentiality with all school and student information Non-instructional and Professional Adheres to all policies and procedures governing the operation of the school Proactively communicates with administrators Documents arrival and departure Maintains professional dress and appearance Maintains punctuality Uses standard English in written and oral communication Demonstrates the character qualities of courtesy, friendliness, flexibility, integrity, gratitude, and perseverance Meets everyday stress with emotional stability Responds respectfully and is loyal to constituted authority Represents the school in a favorable and professional manner to its constituency
