Job description
Overview The adult/family nurse practitioner (NP) provides health services for students and employees of NYMC. The NP is responsible for the provision of excellent health care and for implementing the policies and procedures of NYMC Health Services as set forth by the Director of Health Services. NYMC Health services provides an Occupational Health program for select employees. The NP is responsible for implementing and evaluating the procedures of the Occupational Health Program in collaboration with the Director of Health Services and the Department of Environmental Health and Safety.
Responsibilities
To provide walk-in care for general medical problems to students/employees and faculty including referrals for care and the triage of emergencies. To conduct medical histories and physical exams, administer vaccinations, tuberculosis skin tests and perform N95 fit tests. To prescribe and order lab tests/x rays when needed. To review health records of incoming students to both NYMC and Touro Dental School of Medicine and provide notifications of deficiencies in health clearance requirements and appropriate follow-up. To ensure compliance in surveillance program including the review of documentation in order to meet the requirements of the Occupational Health program. To counsel and perform appropriate evaluation and follow-up of students and employees with blood and body fluid exposures. To review student health records and complete student applications for visiting and away rotations. Order medical supplies. Maintain exam rooms.
Qualifications
Education requirement: Minimum of a Master's Degree in Nursing as a family or Adult Nurse Practitioner Licenses or certifications: Current Board Certification as an adult or family NP. BLS certification. DEA preferred. NPI number required. Technical/computer skills: Previous experience with electronic medical record, knowledge of Outlook and Microsoft word. Prior experience: Minimum of 2-5 years experience in outpatient family, university or internal medicine as a Nurse Practitioner with the ability to function independently. Minimum Salary USD $39,603.20/Yr. Maximum Salary USD $49,504.00/Yr.
