Job description
The Library Services department at Pittsburg State University is accepting applications for a Systems Librarian and Assistant Instructional Professor. The primary function of the Systems Librarian and Assistant Instructional Professor is to maintain and manage library computers, software, and server infrastructure to ensure high-quality functionality for end users and library faculty. Oversee the integrated library system, discovery tools, interlibrary loan electronic infrastructure, online public catalog, user authentication services, and all technology supporting Pittsburg State University Library Services resources.
Duties and Responsibilities
Library Systems Infrastructure - 55% Provide library technological infrastructure management and maintenance, including, but not limited to, the integrated library system, discovery service, interlibrary loan infrastructure, and user authentication services Provide technology training, support, and customer service to students, faculty, staff, and community members in support of library resources and services access Provide technology and infrastructure training and support for Library Services staff and faculty and the PSU consortium staff Create and maintain systems management and maintenance procedural documents. Library Services and Planning - 15% Performs faculty liaison duties for assigned subject areas. Collaborate in library workgroups as assigned by the Dean. Participates with other faculty in collection maintenance and acquisitions. Scholarly Work – 15% Maintain and enhance knowledge of library systems management and library services through attending trainings, workshops, and conferences. Contribute to the field of librarianship and library systems management through presentations at conferences, workshops or training, and through publication. Service – 10% Participate in the Pittsburg State University community through service and committee mentorships. Participate in the broader profession of librarianship and library systems management by maintaining memberships and service in associated professional organizations. Other Duties as Assigned – 5% Education and Experience Required Education and Experience – Time of Hire Master of Library Science (MLS) or equivalent (Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) from an American Library Association accredited institution. Candidates must hold a Master degree in library science discipline or related field. This degree requirement is necessary for accreditation purposes and to ensure candidates possess the specialized knowledge, skills, and abilities that can only be attained through a formal educational program at this level. Preferred Education and Experience - One year of experience in integrated library systems maintenance and/or other library related technology infrastructure maintenance.
