About the role

The Adjunct Lecturer will teach part-time, in-person, and/or online undergraduate level courses, focusing specifically on English Composition and Introduction to Research Writing for the Fall/Spring semester.

The Pittsburg State University Department of English and Modern Languages is accepting applications for a part-time, in-person, temporary Adjunct Lecturer to teach for the Fall/Spring semester with a specific need in English Composition and Introduction to Research Writing.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Teach in person and/or online sections at undergraduate level courses in the program areas identified.

Education and Experience

  • Required Education and Experience – Time of Hire
  • Master’s Degree in English or adjacent field of study (eg: ESOL)
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.

Candidate's must hold a Master’s degree in English or related field. This degree requirement is necessary for accreditation purposes and to ensure candidates possess the specialized knowledge, skills, and abilities that can only be attained through a formal educational program at this level.

  • Preferred Education and Experience –
  • Prior instructor experience with undergraduate writing instruction.
  • Instructor experience in higher education or with adult learners.
  • Experience with online instruction.
  • Knowledge of and the ability to work with a course management system (Canvas).
  • Evidence of teaching excellence.
