The Educator acts as a subject matter expert in sterile processing, infection prevention, instrumentation, and quality assurance, promoting a culture of safety, accountability, and excellence.
The Central Sterile Supply educator is responsible for providing personalized education by designing, developing, implementing and evaluating classroom and clinical instruction to support ongoing educational needs and experiences in CSS.
The CSS Educator provides support, education, guidance, and direction to the Central Sterile team to attain/maintain quality surgical instrument, customer service and safe care to patients in clinical areas.
The CSS Educator functions as an educational consultant within the Operating Rooms and CSS works to cultivate collaboration, enthusiasm, and mutual respect.
The educator provides supportive services directed towards annual competencies completion, developing and updating competencies as needed, ensures certification is accurate and updated in workday, cross training, assists with the development, revision, training, of competencies.
The CSS Educator incorporates knowledge in clinical practice and adult learning principles.
The CSS Educator is responsible for facilitating the provision of surgical instruments through educational activities.
The CSS Educator consults and collaborates with all members of the health care team.
The CSS Educator serves as a role model and resource for all staff development including supervisors, leads, staff and students within the unit/department/organization.
Associate’s degree in healthcare or a related field. Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) - Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) or Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician certification (CSPDT) issued through The Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) within six months of hire. 2 years of relevant experience required. 2-4 years of relevant experience preferred.
