Responsibilities
Support individuals efficiently and effectively to achieve the best outcomes possible Help support the Community as Medicine program in English and Spanish speaking groups. Leading small group health coaching Engage individuals or in groups via a variety of communication tools, including telephone and SMS Provide health coaching relevant to chronic disease prevention and management Meet with clients online or in-person, individually or in group settings, to discuss and set achievable short and long-term goals Deep understanding of positive psychology, behavior change, and motivation Excellent communication and listening skills Ability to build strong, trusting relationships with your clients while promoting health or addressing health related social needs Provide excellent customer service to community and staff team members Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required with following certifications: NCCA accredited fitness or health-related certification National Board-Certified Health & Wellness Coach (NBC-HWC) or studying for the exam Deep understanding of positive psychology, behavior change, and motivation Excellent communication and listening skills Ability to build strong, trusting relationships with your clients while promoting health or addressing health-related social needs Licensing, state law and our government funders require that staff within YMCA of San Diego County be fingerprinted, prior to reporting to work, and include subsequent arrest notifications CPR/AED, and First Aid Certification, must include Adult and Child/Infant, obtained within 30 days of hire and must be from one of the following certifying organizations: American Red Cross American Heart Association American Safety & Health Institute YMCA will consider qualified applicants with a criminal history pursuant to the San Diego County Fair Chance Ordinance and the California Fair Chance Act.
