Description Nexus Family Healing is hiring Substitute Teachers for Grand Prairie School at our Onarga, IL location!

Nexus-Onarga Family Healing is located approximately 30 miles south of Kankakee and 45 miles north of Champaign-Urbana, just a few miles off of I-57 on a historic site in Onarga, IL. Nexus Onarga provides boys ages 10 to 20 years old a structured, homelike environment where they can safely address a variety of unhealthy behaviors and mental health issues as well as childhood trauma.

Work Schedule & Salary

• Schedule: As needed basis throughout the school year and/or summer opportunities available June-August!

• M-F 7a-3:30pm (prescheduled & on call hours available)

• Salary: $17-$20 per hour based on credentials & prior teaching experience.
• Work
• Environment: Must be able to lift to 50 pounds unassisted and up to 100+ pounds with assistance. Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time (2-4 hours). Must be able to twist, bend and stretch in a manner conducive to the execution of daily activities within the residential program. Must be able to assist in proper restraining of client. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as desktop and/or laptop computers, photocopiers, and smartphones.

Endless training on mental health & trauma informed care Ongoing support of a team of trained & experienced professionals Internal advancement opportunities available with further education Tuition Assistance Program to obtain higher education in a related field Employee Referral Bonus program The Substitute Teacher will provide educational instruction through a variety of accepted teaching techniques while employing behavior management strategies that will ensure the effective and efficient implementation of assigned individual students’ IEPs on an as needed basis to complement the needs of the full time teaching staff.
• Primary responsibilities: Complement the scheduling needs of the full-time teaching staff Provide instruction to assigned students in classes of expertise as assigned. Provide crisis intervention within the classroom setting and apply TCI or approved de-escalation techniques appropriate to the situation at hand; ask for assistance when warranted through appropriate procedures and keep other academic and clinical treatment staff appraised of inappropriate behaviors. Ensure confidentiality regarding students is in compliance with all licensing agencies, company policy, COA and HIPAA guidelines. Attend training sessions as required; understand and support the Nexus treatment philosophy and modalities

Requirements

Required Licensure: ISBE (Illinois State Board of Education) Substitute Teaching License. Must successfully pass a DCFS criminal background check. Must have a valid Driver's License and transportation. Must be open to meeting the cultural needs of individuals or communities, considering factors such as language, traditions, and values. Preferred Experience: Previous teaching or sub teaching experience. Special Education experience.
