The Lead Montessori Teacher is responsible for creating a safe, nurturing learning environment and implementing age-appropriate activities to promote cognitive and social growth. They must collaborate with parents and colleagues while maintaining a structured and organized classroom.
Candidates must be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma and at least two years of experience in a structured childcare setting. CPR/First Aid certification and a clean background check are required, while a degree in Early Childhood Education is preferred.
This is a dual role for a seasoned Montessori educator. You’ll spend 70% of your time as a Lead Teacher in a primary, mixed-age Montessori classroom, and 25–30% as a Montessori Curriculum Coach — supporting and developing teachers across our program. What You’ll Do Classroom (70-75%) — Lead Teacher, Primary Mixed-Age Prepare and steward an authentic Montessori environment for children ages 3–6 Deliver individualized lessons, track developmental progress, and guide each child’s learning journey Build strong partnerships with families through warm, consistent communication Maintain a community of grace, courtesy, and mutual respect Follow all school policies, safety procedures, and licensing requirements Coaching (25–30%) — Montessori Curriculum Coach Observe classrooms and provide reflective, growth-oriented feedback to teachers Model Montessori lessons and support teachers in deepening their practice Lead coaching conversations on curriculum, materials, and environment design Support onboarding of new staff and contribute to school-wide professional development
Montessori certification (AMI or AMS) strongly preferred; significant Montessori classroom experience considered 3–5+ years of lead teaching experience in a Montessori setting Experience mentoring or coaching other educators Strong communication skills and ability to give and receive feedback with grace CPR/First Aid certified (or willing to obtain upon hire) Must pass background check and meet state licensing requirements
