Behavior technician - Monroe county

MISSION

Chileda's mission is to improve the quality of life for individuals with cognitive and behavior challenges. Chileda Shine Community Services is an innovative program that incorporates a collaborative approach to providing community, in-home, and in-school support to neurodiverse individuals and their families. Chileda Shine uses evidence-based practices with the goal of generalizing skills across environments to improve the quality of lives for children, adults, and families.

SUMMARY

The Behavior Technician works directly with clients in their home, community, school, or Shine building,teaching life skills, activities of daily living (ADLs), social and communication skills, and verbal behavior interventions. The Behavior Technician will implement the Behavior Support Plan (BSP), treatment plan goals, and any safety plans developed by the team.The treatment is individualized to meet the child's needs and used to decrease problem and aggressive behaviors and/or promote skill acquisition.

Required education & experience

  • Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must possess excellent communication and time management skills.
  • Ability to develop and maintain healthy relationships with clients, supervisors, and colleagues.
  • Experience working with neurodivergent individuals is preferred.
  • Experience working independently with individuals in a home/school setting is preferred.
  • Must have a valid driver's license, an insured vehicle, and the ability to independently get to multiple sites throughout the surrounding counties.

General hours of duty

Flexible hours, Monday through Friday - and some weekends. Hours will vary depending on the needs of the family. Hours may include early mornings or late nights. This position requires traveling within La Crosse and surrounding counties.

Reports to: Behavior Consultant or Lead Behavior Technician

Job duties

  • Implement behavior and treatment plans with consistency in the client's home, school, community, or at the center.
  • Follow procedures outlined in the client's individualized safety plan when needed.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in evidence-based techniques, including prompting, modeling, and positive reinforcement.
  • Utilize visual schedules and discrete trial training to support individualized learning.
  • Implement differential reinforcement strategies to encourage desired behaviors.
  • Facilitate functional communication training to enhance clients' communication skills..
  • Become familiar with and abide by the RBT® and BCBA Ethics Code.
  • Communicate with clients and parents, demonstrating respect, collaboration, compassion, learning, and safety.
  • Communicate progress with parents/caregivers using non-technical language.
  • Arrive on time to sessions with outlined materials and data collection tools.
