Job description

Description Under the supervision of the Program Manager, the Childcare Provider is responsible for providing childcare and facilitating child development activities for the children within Katy’s Place, CGE’s childcare development center. The Childcare Provider will actively communicate with his/her coworkers, supervisor, and the parents of the children on child development matters. Additionally, the Childcare Provider will promote the use of the Nurtured Heart Approach, as well as the Attachment, Regulation, and Competency interventions (ARC) in all residential activities with the goal of sustaining a safe and comfortable environment for all individuals associated with the program.

Performance standards

1.) Perform all duties and demonstrate behaviors and attitudes consistent with the Mission Statement and Core Values of the organization, and the Nurtured Heart Approach. 2.) Continually participate in building and maintaining positive working relationships through effective communication, performance improvement and teamwork efforts. 3.) Be of good character and reputation; sufficient physical, mental, and emotional health to satisfactorily perform her or his job duties. 4.) Actively participate in safety programs of the organization by identifying potential risks and promoting client safety as well as environmental safety. 5.) Accomplish individual and team goals and objectives established by supervisor based on prior performance evaluation. 6.) Comply with HIPAA guidelines regarding client rights and confidentiality. 7.) Comply with documentation and training set forth by Human Resources. 8.) Actively participate in CGE's clinical research efforts by ensuring accurate and timely reporting for all assessments and evaluations.

Specific duties

Provide daily care and supervision of infants and children under the direction/ supervision of the Program Manager. Meet the physical, social and medical needs of infants/children assigned, including but not limited to feeding, changing, dispensing of medication, stimulation, playing, etc. Assist in monitoring and documenting information related to feeding, changing, sleeping and playtime schedules as well as observations of child's behaviors and developmental milestones. Provide monitoring and documentation of the dispensation of medication and any medical concerns or conditions the child may present. Inform the Program Manager of any incidents that may impact upon the child's development or safety. Provide written instructions and information to mothers regarding significant events and needs of the child while in the childcare room. Recognize and report any signs of child abuse and/or neglect as specified in N.J.A.C. (10:122 6.6). Maintain knowledge of and implement emergency procedure requirements, including first aid kits, training in infant CPR and First Aid, fire drills, disaster evacuation planning etc. Implement all environmental sanitation requirements for disinfecting, including all furniture, diapering surfaces, medical supplies, feeding materials etc. Ensure that all physical safety requirements and proper staff ratios are met in accordance with DCF licensure. Provide crisis intervention as needed. Prepare and deliver oral and written reports to Program Manager as indicated. Maintain records as required by organization policies and regulatory and accrediting agencies. Participate in childcare team conferences for development, review and revision of care plans. Participate in and prepare child(ren) for appropriate discharge upon completion of the program. Participate in program, committee and clinical staff meetings as indicated. Participate in program evaluation and ongoing efforts to enhance quality of services. Participate in clinical training program(s) as indicated. Participate in weekly supervision with the Program Manager. Receive required trainings as mandated by DCF licensure, as well as additional agency training.
