The Swim Instructor is responsible for providing swim instruction based on the Goldfish Swim School curriculum, enforcing safety rules, and performing rescues or administering first aid when necessary. Duties also include evaluating student progress, interacting with parents, inspecting pool areas, and maintaining equipment.
Candidates must have experience as a certified lifeguard, youth sports instructor/coach, camp counselor, or childcare provider, with a minimum of two years as a swimming instructor required. A high school diploma or GED is preferred, and required certifications include Lifeguard, CPR/AED, and First Aid.
1. Provides swim instruction based on the Goldfish Swim School curriculum. 2. Enforces safety rules and regulations to prevent accidents. Makes rescues and administers first aid when necessary. 3. Evaluates students’ progress, and completes required paperwork in a timely manner. 4. Interacts with parents/guardians on the activities and development of students’ swim skills. 5. Acts as a GSS “ambassador” to ensure parental satisfaction. 6. Uses problem solving and creative thinking skills to identify and resolve challenges that students encounter. 7. Inspects pool areas before and after each class for possible maintenance, cleanliness or damage issues. Reports issues to management as appropriate. 8. Maintains and ensures proper storage of all pool equipment. Places and removes lane lines. 9. Reports accidents and incidents to management. Completes required documentation and paperwork. 10. Performs Deck Teacher duties as needed. 11. Performs light cleaning duties such as window washing, deck mopping, trash removal etc. on occasion. 12. Attend required/mandatory workshops and in-service training outside of regular working hours. 13. Fulfills other duties or responsibilities as assigned by the Employer.
