Your Role on the Team
Teacher working in an after-school program with school-aged children.As a member of a teaching team, will supervise aides and 45 children in a diverse environment.Incumbent is responsible for the day to day operation of the classroom.Duties include: planning and supervising the classroom activities, and providing an environment for school aged children that promotes safe, healthy and free exploration.Incumbent may be required to step in as a substitute teacher for the department preschools and the infant toddler center as needed.Must possess or qualify for a CA Child Development Permit, have a minimum of two years experience and provide evidence of CPR/First Aid/TB Test/Physical.
What It Takes to be Successful
Ability to work effectively as a member of a child development team, with children, parents, staff members, and community representatives in providing a quality educational program. Ability to relate to children as individuals in small and large groups. Effective communication skills, both with children and adults. Thorough understanding of child development and the philosophy and methodology of early childhood education center, as well as changes taking place in the field. Ability to work with and be sensitive to a culturally diverse community. Ability to plan, organize and direct a challenging developmental and instructional program for school aged children. Familiarity with federal and state health safety regulations and Title 22 and Title 5 regulations, applicable to a child care facility. Current California Child Development Permit, Teacher Level Current First Aid and CPR Certifications 2 years working in a licensed center-based child care facilities
Preferred: 3-6 units of infant toddler coursework
The expected pay range for this recruitment is $25.68- $30.46 (Hourly).
