Job summary

Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School in University City is seeking qualified Substitute Teachers to serve students in grades Kindergarten through 8th grade on an as‑needed basis. Substitute Teachers play an essential role in ensuring continuity of learning by maintaining a safe, respectful, and faith‑filled classroom environment during teacher absences.

Position Summary

Substitute Teachers are responsible for implementing lesson plans provided by the classroom teacher, supporting established classroom routines, and upholding school policies and expectations. Working collaboratively with faculty, staff, and administrators, substitute teachers help maintain instructional consistency while supporting the academic, social, and emotional needs of students in a Catholic school setting.

  • Follow lesson plans and instructional materials provided by the classroom teacher
  • Maintain a structured, positive, and respectful learning environment
  • Support classroom routines and school expectations
  • Work effectively with students across a variety of grade levels and learning needs
  • Collaborate professionally with teachers, specialists, and school staff
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with administrators as needed
  • Uphold Catholic values and model respectful behavior at all times
  • Ensure student safety and supervision throughout the school day

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Prior teaching, substitute teaching, or educational coursework preferred
  • Ability to manage classrooms across multiple grade levels (K–8)
  • Strong communication, classroom management, and organizational skills
  • Commitment to supporting the mission and values of Catholic education
