About the role

The VCS Classroom Teacher is responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing instructional programs in an elementary or secondary setting to guide students toward academic and spiritual potential. Key duties include developing and delivering lesson plans, managing student behavior, monitoring progress, and maintaining accurate student records.

Summary The VCS Classroom Teacher is responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing an appropriate instructional program in an elementary or secondary learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic and spiritual potential.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning.
  • Develops schemes of work, lesson plans and tests that are in accordance with established procedures.
  • Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment.
  • Use relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction.
  • Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures.
  • Maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the school.
  • Provide appropriate feedback on work.
  • Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and use information to adjust teaching techniques.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of student’s progress and development.
  • Update all necessary records accurately and completely as required by laws, district policies and school regulations.
  • Prepare required reports on students and activities.
  • Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues and parents regarding student progress and student needs.
  • Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.
  • Prepare classroom for class activities.
  • Provide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities.
  • Observe and evaluate student’s performance and development.
  • Assign and grade classwork, homework, tests and assignments.
  • Demonstrate preparation and skill in working with students from diverse cultural, economic and ability backgrounds.
  • Encourage parent and community involvement, obtain information from parents when requested, promptly return phone calls and answer emails.
  • Participate in professional development and activities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field.
  • Oklahoma State certification in Education Instruction relative to the department and grade desired.
  • Maintains and demonstrates a mature Christian lifestyle consistent with the teachings of the Church.
  • Speaks English at an idiomatic level.
  • Good communication, problem solving, and priority setting skills as well as maintaining an overall positive and professional attitude /disposition.
  • Ability to effectively plan, organize and implement educational activities.
  • Knowledge and implementation of relevant technology.
  • Must be able to manage confidential information.

  • Sitting, standing, bending, kneeling, squatting, crawling, stooping, walking, and the ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds;

  • Sighted with color, peripheral, near, and far vision;
  • Hearing and speaking;
  • Excellent English communication skills.
