Oklahoma Christian University invites applications for adjunct faculty positions in several disciplines and assignments to courses for delivery through various modalities, including on-campus and online. Required qualifications vary from department to department, but a discipline-related master's degree or a combination of education and relevant professional experience are generally required. Candidates with terminal degrees and other specialized training are also highly desired. Specific requirements can be found in each adjunct job post. Adjunct appointments are part-time (typically one or two courses) and made on a semester-by-semester basis but often result in recurring assignments within a regular course rotation. Adjunct openings frequently occur with short notice, so the Oklahoma Christian Human Resources office accepts adjunct applications at all times. This is an on-campus, in-person position. The College of Sciences and Education is seeking Nursing Clinical adjuncts to teach at Oklahoma Christian University.

Primary

Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science in Nursing required and current unencumbered Registered Nurse license in Oklahoma.

Preferred: Master of Science in Nursing and/ or D.N.P. or Ph.D. in Nursing.

Successful undergraduate teaching experience preferred.

Simulated learning two years or more of nursing experience is a plus.

Demonstrated commitment to diversity and the ability to communicate and positively engage students and colleagues across racial, gender, and cultural barriers.

The successful candidate must be an active member of a local church.

Teaching Responsibilities

  • Teaches advises and mentors students at the clinical site in various learning experiences.
  • Evaluates student performance and maintain department and student records per university policies.
  • Adheres to the educational philosophy of the university.
  • Works in a collaborative manner with colleagues and professional peers.
  • Provides a quality learning experience for students.
  • Performs instruction-related duties and responsibilities promptly
  • The desire to work with traditional and online students is essential.

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Assist in arranging orientation periods for the clinical agency
  • Be on-site with students during the clinical class period
  • Communicate with agency staff regarding student competencies and responsibilities
  • Communicate with floor managers regarding student experiences and staff responses to student performance
  • Assign patients for student delivery of nursing care
  • Evaluate clinical sites with agency staff, faculty, and students’ responses
  • Communicate with faculty teaching other sections of the course to compare student performance and experiences
  • Provide feedback to students' care plans within 48 hours of the clinical experience
  • Answer student emails within 24-48 hours

Team Responsibilities

  • Resolve problem situations between courses within the same level
  • Participate with the team in the evaluation of semester/term
  • Participate in team meetings for coordination of classes during a given semester/term
  • Complete all documents/surveys for program assessment
  • Complete all orientation modules required for successful online and clinical learning
  • Participate in professional development commensurate with program needs
  • Engage in scholarly/creative activities

  • Possess and demonstrate strong pedagogical skills at the undergraduate level in clinical environments
  • Excellent communication skills, including oral, written, and interpersonal to effectively and accurately represent
  • Possess and demonstrate strong interpersonal skills
  • Proficient with current online education software and delivery methods
  • Able to assess student ability and adjust teaching as appropriate
  • Possess sufficient physical health and mobility to teach students in various clinical and lab settings
  • Able to meet clinical agency immunization requirements and keep yearly uploads current in my clinical exchange and/or facility requesting
