About the role

The Associate Professor will teach 12 credit hours per semester, covering both Bible major courses and university core requirements. Additionally, they will provide spiritual and academic mentoring to students while assisting with recruitment and retention efforts for the College of Bible.

Position Summary

Oklahoma Christian University’s College of Bible seeks candidates for tenure-track or visiting full-time positions. The College of Bible serves a central role in the spiritual and academic life of OC’s student body by offering a BA in Bible, second majors in Ministry and in Missions, multiple minors, and by teaching 15 hours within the University’s core requirements across all majors.

Responsibilities

  • Teach 12 credit hours per semester, consisting of courses that serve Bible majors and courses serving the university core requirements.
  • Preferred areas of emphasis: Church History, Theology, General Ministry, and/or Missions.
  • Provide spiritual, academic and professional mentoring for students.
  • Assist with recruiting and retention of students for the College of Bible.
  • Serve on university and college-level committees.
  • Further the mission of the College of Bible by assisting in developing and implementing creative and challenging curriculum; developing community among students, faculty, staff, and churches; and doing all things through a lens of advancing the Kingdom of God.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • PhD or DMin in the appropriate field preferred; ABD may be considered.
  • Ministry-related experience.
  • Teaching experience and evidence of scholarship in the field of expertise.
  • Strong commitment to the authority of scripture along with an understanding and appreciation for the heritage of churches of Christ.
  • Demonstrated commitment to communicating and positively engage students and colleagues.
  • Active member of a local church and aligned with OC’s Christian mission

Salary and Benefits

Salary and rank are commensurate with experience and qualifications. Oklahoma Christian University offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance premium support, employer-paid long-term disability (after 1 yr employment) and life insurance, and a 403(b) retirement plan with up to a 6% employer matching contribution. Additional benefits include tuition discounts and other employee offerings.
