Professional Development Specialist (Full-Time)

Starting Salary: $92,000 annually (and higher based on years of experience)

The Professional Development Specialist advances clinical excellence, workforce readiness, and community engagement through the design and delivery of high-quality education across Samaritan and its partners. The role leads clinical onboarding, competency assessment, and continuing education for the interdisciplinary team-hospice aides, LPNs, RNs, social workers, chaplains, advanced practice providers and physicians.

What You'll Do

The specialist serves as the Primary Planner for accredited continuing education under Joint Accreditation standards, direct the Speakers Bureau, and delivers evidence-based education to long-term care, assisted living, and health partners. Through instructional design, coaching, and strategic collaboration, the Professional Development Specialist strengthens clinical practice and enhances patient outcomes across the healthcare continuum.

Key responsibilities include educational design & delivery, accredited continuing education leadership, instructional design, learning technology, Community education & outreach, professional development & leadership coaching, program evaluation, analytics, and reporting, and collaboration, and organizational development.

What You'll Bring

  • Clinical License in New Jersey (e.g., RN, LCSW, APRN); hospice and palliative certification (preferred).
  • MSN, EdD, or equivalent. Adult learning coursework or certification preferred.
  • Hospice and Palliative Certification (preferred).
  • Minimum of 5 years of clinical and/or public health related experience; adult education, curriculum development, and CE planning (JA & ACE, preferred).
  • Technical experience: Microsoft Office Suite (TEAMs, Excel, and PowerPoint); research/information databases.
  • Strong communication (written and verbal), collaboration, and project management skills; computer and research skills (literature review, evaluating best practice, writing an abstract); presentation skills (PPT presentations, interactive polling, gaming); and can work independently on assigned projects.
