Job Overview

  • Fairview, St.
  • John's Hospital, has an immediate opening for a Sterile Processing Facilitator.
  • This is a 1.0 FTE (80 hours per two-week pay period), benefits-eligible opening, eight hour shifts, day/evening/night shifts, weekends as needed.
  • Job Summary: The Sterile Processing Facilitator is responsible for facilitating education, onboarding, remediation and quality auditing within the Sterile Processing Departments and the customers it serves.
  • Responsible for the scheduling of ongoing educational learnings and documentation.
  • Performs and maintains competency records for staff.
  • Performs quality audits and reviews reported safety events for education, process improvement, and/or staff accountability purposes.
  • This position reports to the Sterile Processing Education and Quality Supervisor and works closely with the Sterile Processing Supervisors, Instrument Tracking System Manager, Managers, and System Director.
  • Job Expectations: Coordinates onboarding schedules for new hires, monitors their progress, and reports training opportunities to leadership Meets with the Sterile Processing Education and Quality Supervisor on a scheduled cadence to review QA events and opportunities.
  • Oversees processes to ensure that they are hardwired and followed consistently.
  • Reports any deviations to site leadership.
  • Proactively adjusts workflow to aid with operations as needed.
  • Respects confidentiality of all information by sharing information only with those who need to know.
  • Assist with Driver Audits as needed Remediation Assists in facilitating educational scheduling for staff members that require remediation.
  • Assists with the organization and maintenance of employee training records according to Joint Commission policies and regulations Facilitates quality audits Audits all areas of Sterile Processing to include, but not limited to Decontamination, Scope Rooms, Sterilization, Assembling and Distribution.
  • Perform audits in perioperative areas, procedural areas, clinics and surgery centers as assigned.
  • Participates in department quality improvement projects as assigned Partners with workgroups for set/instrument optimization for floor and surgical grade instrumentation.
  • Ability to work independently and to provide excellent customer service to all levels of hospital staff, outside agencies and contractors.
  • Demonstrates respect for others and conducts self in calm, purposeful and professional manner.

Qualifications

Required Education High School Diploma/G.E.D Experience Knowledge of PC/laptop, word documents, excel spreadsheets, network applications and staffing software. Minimum of 3 years sterile processing technician or related experience Independently demonstrated expertise in all areas of Sterile Processing with the ability to understand and effectively teach associated processes License/Certification/Registration HSPA CRCST certification is required within 12 months of employment Preferred Education Certified Instrument Processing Technician, leadership coursework and training Experience Surgical Technician with lead experience or related experience License/Certification/Registration HSPA CIS, CHL Additional Requirements (must be obtained or completed within a period of time): High level of communication and problem-solving skills. Ability to organize details and maintain accurate records.
